Let’s Stop the “Fat-Talk”

 “I’m So Fat!”

Do you constantly “fat-talk?

You know, talk about your body in a

disparaging way?  Diss yourself for not

following your food plan or not going to

the gym this week?   That “fat-talk?”

You might think you’re making yourself

more likable and just bonding with your

girlfriends…because they do it, too.

No One Likes A “Fat-Talker!”

Well, you might be interested to know that

research study completed this year at

Notre Dame’s Body Image and Eating Disorder

Lab found just the opposite:  Women who make

self-disparaging comments about their bodies

were rated less positively than women who made

more positive comments about their bodies.

In short:   No one likes a “fat-talker.”

Just Don’t…

So the next time you are tempted to say

“I look so big in this dress!” or “You’re not fat,

I’m the one who needs to lose ten pounds!”

Just don’t.

Remember what your Momma told you:

“If you can’t say anything nice,

don’t say anything  at all.”

That includes you.

And it really wouldn’t hurt to say something

nice about yourself, either.

I personally love how you look in that dress.  🙂
