Good Reasons to Stop Worrying NOW

Are you a chronic worrier?

Do you believe if you worry about things it will

somehow help you to be better prepared if things

go badly…like some form of future insurance?

Well, I hate to give you something else to worry

about, but not only does that not work,

worrying is really bad for you!

And not just a little bit bad.

Really, really bad.

As in, it’s going to affect your health and

your weight and your medical bills bad.

How Can Worrying Hurt Me?

Unless you are in a literal life or death situation

where being able to outrun someone to survive

is what’s going on, you don’t want to engage your

“fight or flight” stress response.

Worrying does that needlessly.

And once it is engaged, stress hormones including

adrenaline and cortisol are released into your

bloodstream and begin to affect all of the major

organs of the body.

What Do Stress Hormones Do?

Your stress hormones boost blood sugar levels in

your body as well as triglycerides (blood fats), which

would be fabulous if you had to fight or outrun a

predator, because your body would have more

fuel available to run on.

But prolonged periods of elevated stress hormones

can cause serious long-term consequences including

immune system suppression, digestive problems,

muscle tension, memory loss, coronary artery disease,

and heart attacks. Chronic levels of stress hormones

also make it really hard to maintain normal weight.

Time to Stop the Worrying

There are more than enough good reasons to stop

worrying. Now you have to put forth some real effort

into learning the methods that are effective to stop!

Cognitive therapy is very effective, as is learning

how to meditate, for changing the way that you

perceive and respond to stressors in your life.

There’s no time like the present to learn a better way

to deal with stress…for your body and your mind.

Change Without Worrying

We are working on Chapter Four of A Year to Change

this week, which is all about learning how to stop

worrying about things you have no control over

and focusing your energies on the things you do.

Switching from Outcome-oriented ways of changing

things to more Process-oriented ways is your exercise.

Don’t forget to work on this and get ready for some

real change to begin to happen.

Without having to worry about it!

Come and join us…you’re not too late…

it’s always the right time to make positive change!
